BACK to ALL 16 Foot Boats

1636 Skiff

This boat is the first boat ever built by Pete Willett in 2009. Originally it was 13 foot long, but we extended it and now it is 16 foot long.

Now owned by Collin Bracken in Flint, TX and he loves this little rig. He is now running a Modified 35 hp Mud Buddy HD and running well over 30 mph with any load!

Specs:
16' Long
36" Bottom
All 1/8" 5052 Aluminum
Short Transom
5 - 2x2 Longitudinal Bracing
3 - 2x2 Cross Braces
4' "Extended" Deck with Storage Hatch

It was built for "small" hunting areas where it is hard to get larger boats, such as WMAs, Beaver Ponds, Etc. but still able to carry 2 - 3 people, a dog, and a few decoys.

We have tested this boat with:
27hp ProDrive Short Transom, Manual Trim
15hp Orion Surface Drive Short Transom, Manual Trim
35 HP Mud Buddy HD
35+ HP Mud Buddy HD

Test Results with Short Transom 27hp ProDrive:
2 People (both 180 lbs), 6 gallons of gas (up front), Battery (in Rear) and two 35qt Yeti Coolers full of drinks and ice =
21 mph consistently

1 Person (180 lbs) and the same load as described above =
24 mph consistently

Test Results with Short Transom 15hp Orion:
These little motors have A LOT of low end torque which helps get on plane quickly. They are not speed demons but they will definitely get you where you need to go!

2 People (both 180 lbs) and two 35qt Yeti Coolers full of drinks and ice =
14 mph consistently

1 Person (180 lbs) and the same load as described above =
16 mph consistently

We tested this boat with the following motors when it was 13' long:
32hp Generac Prodrive Tall Transom w/Stage 1 Performance kit
23hp Gator Tail Tall Transom with Reverse.

Test Results with Tall Transom 32hp ProDrive:
2 people (180lbs , 230 lbs), 6 gallons of gas (up front), battery (up front), and 2 35qt Yeti Coolers full of drinks and ice =
27 mph in deep water. We had to add alot of extra stuff in the front of the boat to counterweight the weight of the motor for one person to drive the
boat.
With 1 person (180) and the same load described above, the boat ran 29 mph and still was gaining speed but we still didn't have enough weight up front to keep the bow from bouncing.

Test Results with 23hp Gator Tail
2 people (180lbs, 230 lbs), 6 gallons of gas (up front), battery (up front), and 2 35qt Yeti Coolers - running 19-20 mph in deep water.
With 1 person (180) and the same load described above - running 23 mph. Which is plenty fast for this litle boat since it is mostly to be used in smaller ares protected from wind and waves.
